I really want to lose 10 lbs by my birthday July 21st. I have gained weight in the last 6 months after taking hair growth supplements. I stopped taking them and I really need to get myself back in order.

The me you see in my siggie pic is way bigger than I like to be. (look at my arms :nono: :( ) I got on the scale recently and was like  . Recent vacation eating and drinking did not help :nono: I think I drank my weight in Chocolate Martinis! :nono:

So I have 5 weeks until my birthday. Think I can do it?

What methods would you guys suggest, if this is even possible? I am not into fad diets and diet pills and I have never had to lose weight in such a short amount of time. If this is not a healthy time frame I would rather not do it.

If you guys don't think this is possible, what amount of weight do you think is healthy?

Yep! 10 pounds in 5 weeks is very realistic.

Freshman year, I lost 8 pounds in 2 weeks. But during that time, I worked out a lot. The bigger you are, the more weight you'd lose at a time, so that's another factor in why I lost that much in just 2 weeks.

That's 2 lbs a weeks...I definitely thinks it's possible. It will take lots of discipline. Cardio...I prefer running/jogging for best results and light weight lifting. And of course, modify the diet. As a matter of fact a close friend of mine eliminated sugar for about 4 weeks a lost a significant amount of weight.

Okay first of all, your siggy pic is cute!!!

Newho, Yep like everyone else has said, I think its realistic if youre consistant. Youre already doing Taebo so thats great! Focus on eating clean (no fast food, fried foods, overly processed foods, etc) and cut down on carbs, but dont eliminate. Try to get your carbs from whole grain/whole wheat foods instead of things made w/ white flour. Up your veggies/fruit, fiber, protein and water intake. Those are pretty much my standard tips.. they never let me down. :)

I think you can do it....just by cutting sweets and carbs probably will help tremendously.

10 lbs in 5 weeks is definitely doable. Standard weight loss is 1-2 lbs per week. However, I will warn you that since you don't have a lot of weight to lose it might be more difficult for you to shed those pounds. I don't know why this is, but people who have more to lose tend to lose it faster than people who just want to lose 10-15 lbs.

In order to lose those 2 lbs per week, I suggest a fitness routine that incorporates cardio with weight training. Weight training builds lean muscle and muscle is active tissue that burns calories even when you're at rest. The more muscle you have the faster your metabolism goes. Also stick to a balanced diet of lean protein, whole grains, fresh fruits and veggies, low-fat dairy, and lots of water. Remember portion control and moderation are also key. You can totally do it. Let us know how you progress.

Absolutely! I agree with Kels823 said. I have an article from a fitness magazine that tells you how to do it. Here it is:

Lose 10 lbs. in 5 weeks:

The Workout: 1 hour of cardio and resistance/strength training 5-6 days a week. (Any Slim in 6, Turbo Jam, Billy’s Boot camp, etc. 1-hr. workout DVDs)

The Diet:
Breakfast: 1 cup of oatmeal; 1 hard boiled egg
Snack: 1 piece of fruit
Lunch: 4 oz. fish or chicken breast with steamed veggies and a salad. (The more fish you eat, the better the results)
Snack: celery or cucumber with 1 tablespoon of all-natural peanut butter (no sugar added)
Dinner: 6-8 oz. grilled fish and steamed veggies. If you get hungry, eat a green pepper.
Beverages: water, water and more water (1/2 to 1 oz. for each pound of body weight)

Hope this helps! Let us know how you're doing.

I like this diet. It sounds really easy.

My problem is the working out part. It is hard for me because of sweatign out my hair. :(

I may have to just get a set of braids to wear for the next month. That way I can work out EVERYDAY.

I do need to do more workouts. I only do cardio with weight training 2 times a week and Pilates on other days. I tend to only do the cardio on days when I can wash my hair.

I plan on going out to a nice dinner, but I would really like to fit into one of my favorite outfits (that are now too tight  )

Girl! I totally feel you on the hair issue. I'm about to get my hair straightened today and I don't know what I'm gonna do about my workouts for the next week or so. I do intense cardio at least 5 days a week and you would think I dunked myself in a pool with how much I sweat. But trust me, the results will be worth the bad hair days. Try wearing braidouts and twistouts during this month. Also, a ponytail is your best friend.
