Thank you everyone.:) I know how difficult it is to lose weight and I wanted to be motivation to people who are still battling weight issues;here is what worked for me.After graduating from Nursing school about 2 1/2 years ago I was over weight. I decided that my new years resolution (2005) was to officially lose the weight, no more excuses. I signed up for the Discovery health Channel weight loss challenge where they allow you to have a free 2 month membership at bally's. I was reluctant at first but my sister dragged me to the gym and reminded me of my goal. It was my first time ever being at a gym. We took one of those classes: tae kwon do; I literally felt like I was going to pass out but i finished the class. I stuck to my goal to work out a few days a week at the gym and that is where I met the man that would change my life forever (my trainer). I hired a trainer for 2 months. I worked out with him 4x's per week cardio two days strenght training 2 days for 1 hour each. He put me on a realistic diet regime, no junk food, nothing fried, everything in moderation, plenty of water,I never ate past 8pm . The first week I lost 9 pounds:D in two months I dropped 40 pounds. This man worked me, he wouldn't take no or I can't for an answer. His moto was "you tell your body what to do", it's not the other way around. I threw temper tantrums, fell on the treadmil and he would just stand there and wait til' I was done making a fool out of myself (yes, at the gym in front of everyone. ) before proceeding with the workout. After the two months were up, I was afraid 'cause I believed I couldn't do it without him, well ladies I did. I lost 20 more pounds on my own. In total I lost 60 pounds within 6 months and never looked back. At certain points I had to gain some weight because I lost too much and looked like I was sick (i'm 5'9).
One thing that I want to stress is that my trainer changed my life in so many ways, he allowed me to see my potential. I don't want anyone here to think that they need a trainer; you don't. I lost more weight on my own, without him. What my trainer did was give me that beginners push to get started something i didn't have at the time. I thank him so much for changing my life but I thank the lord first and myself for following through with the plan.
My current regime hasn't changed much. I still try not to eat past 8pm, I drink plenty of water and I workout nearly everyday for 1 hour. My one bad habit is that I eat junk food too often and have to work out way more than I want to in order not to gain weight. If I didn't I would be right back at 220lbs. One thing I realized about losing weight, no matter how you slice the cake You have to eat less and work out more.
Ok that was long.:look: tootles

Thanks for posting your inspirational story and congratulations on not only successfully losing weight but also keeping it off. I'm currently at a plateau in my weight loss, frustrated, and about to give up. Your story definitely came at the right time. Thanks again and keep up the good work you look fabulous:grin: !!!

you look great. I agree maintaining is very hard. The only thing that makes me get out of the bed and get motivated to work out is looking at my old clothes and thinking, i am not going to fit back in those!

Thank you so much for your testimony. Lord knows I needed that encouragement because I just strare at my $800.00 treadmill everyday(that I begged my hubby for and promised I would use it). Pulease, had it for 2 years and its sad to say that I don't use it. I feel so bad about it but I don't have the motivation. But thanks maybe thats a boost for me in the right direction.

I agree with everyone else, you look awesome!!!! And your testimony is just what I needed to read this morning.
What an inspiration! Girl you are looking good. I'm always careful not to say, anyone who think they can't loose weight just have not committed to. Once you are committed, you will do what needs to be done. If what you are doing is not working, you're doing the wrong things. That's just my opinion though.
