Hey guys I saw my sister this weekend her hands are completely messed up she said her doctor dx with ecema, but her hands look burned in some areas and scaley and dry in other areas and extremely dry patches, she scratches it all the time I am convinced it's some type of fungus coming from her being nevous and unhappy, this fungus is also on her heels.

Please help me find something for her she is trying oil pulling which has not helped her yet, she has been to several derms they RX cordisone creams which has not help her hands at all.

If you know of anything please let me know

Thanks in advance

Sorry to Hear about your sister.

I could tell you that what worked for my extremely dry, flaking, acne, blemish, sensitive skin was Liquid Omega 3-6-9. I started taking the brand by Barleans called the Essential Woman, and my skin has turned around.
I just mix it with oatmeal to mask the taste. I could vouch that my skin has made a huge improvement. It has made so much of a differnce that I stopped using topical products (except basic facewash). I didn't experience the same with capsules though, it has to be a tbsp pf the liquid daily. HTH

Evening Primrose practically cured my younger sister's eczema. It's been 3 years and she has it totally under control. What is her diet like? Does she take any vitamins or supplements?

My cousin curbed her eczema with her diet & her supplements. I think it's a lifestyle issue.

The Essential Woman's oil has EPO in it, so you are killing two birds with one stone.

Ingredients: Organic flaxseed oil, evening primrose oil, flaxseed particulate, isoflavones and saponins mechanically extracted from organic soy. Free of Genetically Modified Organisms

(((Jancan))) this brings memories. When I found out about candida albicans (Lawd I sound like a broken record) it was when I developed a rash at the back of my hand that looked like eczema (which I used to get on my eyelids) but would not respond to creams I'd been given for eczema. The creams just seemed to sit on top of the rash, and the itching was unbearable! In the night, I'd scratch so much in my sleep, that I'd wake up with caked on blood and pus.

In my quest for naturopathic treatment, I came across info about candida albicans (a fungus that lives in all of us but in some pple it gets out of control and the overgrowth causes havoc in our body and manifests itself in various ways, one being that rash).

I found immediate relief from piercing a garlic capsule and applying it to my hand and it works. Of course I didn't have much company whenever I did this. I did find a naturopath who knew had a topical treatment for fungal infections made from hyssop and chamomile and that was a winner (This was in the UK). In the US, the best thing closest to that, that I know of is a cream I got from http://www.cashgrocer.com/ but I can't remember the name. I'll find out and be back to post the name; I seem to recall it having calendula in it.

I also made a few diet changes. But besides cutting out sugar, wheat (gluten), anything fermented, dairy, processed food (which includes white rice - I switched to brown; no hydrogenated oils so margarine was out - you can get spreads that don't have hydrogenated oils at health food stores), I also added these supplements to my diet and I'm still never without them:

- a potent immunity booster multivitamin/mineral (I highly recommend Twinlab Allergy Multicaps (http://www.vitaminshoppe.com/store/en/browse/sku_detail.jsp?id=TL-1014))
- garlic supplement (I recommend Garlinase 4000 (http://www.vitaminshoppe.com/store/en/browse/sku_detail.jsp?id=ET-1681); very potent and hardly any odor)
- acidophilus (I love PB 8 (http://www.vitaminshoppe.com/store/en/browse/sku_detail.jsp?id=NN-2002))
- a source of EFA (Evening Primrose Oil is what I used then; but later I moved to any EFA source like Flaxseed)

I will warn your sister that when she starts treatment, it gets worse before it gets better. When you fight candida (which lives in your gut and hates garlic), it tries to get away and so outward symptoms increase (candida coming to the surface). Naturopaths call this the "die-off" period. But stick to it and once that is passed, you will never look back.

If your sister needs precision in determining what foods might be making her unwell (coz this doesn't just show up; it is sth that builds up over a long period of time and then one day, bang!), then she should call the 1-800 number at www.immunolabs.com and find out which doctor in your area is a member and takes her insurance. The doctor will draw blood and send it to Immunolabs for a food sensitivities test. Out of the 200 or so foods they test, she'll get a comprehensive report of what foods don't agree with her and a food plan. She will be so glad she did this because the most "innocent" foods could be her culprit.

I know when I started my treatment, according to the booklet I found - which was by the naturopath that I mentioned in the UK, I had to cut out all fruits the first month - and that included tomatoes. It wasn't fun. But after that you can have fruits. If I wanted soda, I'd buy sparkling water and add some apple juice to get my bubbly (she'll have to give up all processed drinks and get only 100% juice drinks).

Thank God for Whole Foods (formerly Fresh Foods) because she will find so many substitutes for her favorites that don't have the foods she finds out are bad for her so that she'll never feel like she's missing out. Someone posted a diet in the Health Forum that cut out the foods I had to cut out as a healthy way to eat. So your sis may just find she'll be so much healthier all round when she does this.

Wish her a speedy healing,

My cousin curbed her eczema with her diet & her supplements. I think it's a lifestyle issue.Ms Divine, she eats everything she has lost some weight but eats when she gets upset, she eats alot of red meats and sodas, since I have been on the board I have tried to share some things with her, but she listen to some things then go back to her old habits, I am going to pass all this great information from these ladies and hopefully she will try these things.

Thanks for everything

I have excema as well. What I would suggest is getting a Rx of Elidel. That should work if it doesn't I apply Vitamin E oil to the area and it gets rid of it instantly. You can find it at GNC it is called Nourish Skin Vitamin E oil.
