View Full Version : How Do You Keep Your Pores Closed?
What do you use to keep your pores closed? For a long time, I've been splashing my face with very cold water after washing it, which works well to close pores and tighten the skin, but I want to know if something else works also and lasts longer. Closed pores make the face look very smooth. I bought a product by Neutrogena to close pores but it made my face feel sticky. http://www.longhaircareforum.com/forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif And I didn't notice any difference. Any other ideas that work? Thank you in advance!

The only thing I've heard that works is cold water. I'm not sure if there's a permanent solution.

Thank you Allandra, I guess I'll keep doing that.

Use a toner, Isis. I use Wich Hazel and it works great. I also love St. Ives Cucumber and Elastin Face Gel. It's about $3. In the summer, I use it alone. In the winter, I use moisturizer over it aafter about 30 minutes. HTH!

Witch Hazel is a great inexpensive way to tone! Burts Bees also has a Wild Lettuce toner that I love!
Thank you Lunalight7 and Marla! I think I'll try the Witch Hazel. I may even have some (hope it's not too old...) http://www.longhaircareforum.com/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Lately, I've been looking at natural beauty aids from other cultures. I came across this Indian Beauty Regimen (http://fromnaturewithlove.com/soap/IndianSkin.asp) at www.fromnaturewithlove.com (http://fromnaturewithlove.com). If you don't feel like looking at it, here's their Pore Tightener Recipe:
Tighten the pores Mix 1/2 cup of refridgerated yogurt with 2 tsp refridgerated rose hydrosol and 1/2 tablespoon honey. Apply to the face and allow it to sit until the mixture becomes warm and then rinse. If your skin is dry you can smooth on a few finger tips full of virgin coconut oil or sweet almond oil, both of which are very light.

A tip I got from a dermatologist was to not even let those pores widen to begin with, by getting rid of blackheads (professionally) as soon as they appear. Otherwise the pores will get bigger and bigger as the blackhead fills up more and more.
