Soak them in pure acetone. It'll take awhile depending on how thick your gel/acrylic was applied. HTH

Yep on the acetone. Be sure to put the acetone in a glass bowl, it will melt plastic

acetone...but also warm a bowl of water in the microwave, and then place the container used to hold the acetone in the bowl. warm acetone speeds up the process.

This is why I had to stop wearing fake nails, it takes too much to maintain and not to mention all the money you spend.
I would see if you could try to remove it by the method the nail tech uses. Because with the acetone everything gets messy and you will still have acrylic hard to get off on your nails.
If you can go to the shop because they also have the drill to remove the left over acrylic as well.

I would go to the shop to get them removed. It's faster and is usually around $10 to do and then I would get a manicure.

To help your nails recover at home, get some Nail Life Treatment Revitalizer for Nails http://www.sallybeauty.com/shop/3210/113050 (http://www.sallybeauty.com/shop/3210/113050)

I wore fake nails years ago and it never turned out good. My real nails would be shot. Also the fake nails would get very thick and clumpy looking after 3 refills. So I was getting them removed and put back on over and over. I got tired of that after awhile and now wear my natural nails short and buffed. The Nail Life Revitalizer got them back in shape.
