Has anyone out there who has dark circles or "sunken in" under eye problems gone to an Herbalist or alternative medicine doctor to get diagnosed??

Just wondering if that is a possible iron defeciency problem?? In an otherwise healthy and non-sleep deprived person.. LOL

And if so what were you told to use??

I don't know if this counts as alternative medicine but face exercises can help. Any gauntness in the face is due to fat loss and muscle loss and sag so if you can build the muscles of the face or lift them with tone, then a lot of the problems we seem to develop will disappear. Dark circles can be caused by toxin build up - something that improved circulation from the exercises can help flush out. The other thing face exercises do is thicken the skin so that the paper thinness that makes skin almost see through thus making blood vessels show through as dark circles is no more.

Check the frontal view photos here (http://www.carolynsfacialfitness.com/2Before%20&%20Aft.html)

Check the darkness and hollowness in this guy's before face and then check out the after pic (http://www.carolynsfacialfitness.com/4before&after.html)

Check Alice's progress (http://www.flexeffect.com/AliceBA.htm) and Cecilia's (http://www.flexeffect.com/Cecilia.htm)

Otherwise there are some home remedies that you could try. I haven't tried them but I don't think you have anything to lose:

Besides Nonie's excellent suggestion, I've learned that undereye dark circles can also be caused by sugar, too much caffeine or drinking alcohol. Eliminating these or cutting way back can make a difference.

My undereyes are really dark. I was considering getting contacts but I would have to put on make up everyday to cover the circles. I"m going to improve my diet and I am making an appt. for the dermatologist because it looks really bad and I"m still in my 20's.

Yep, I agree. I was drinking way too much coke and coffee, and not enough water, develop horrible dark circles. Now i'm drinking tons of water and it's getting alot better.

I've had dark circles since I was a baby. you can see them in my baby pics. no one in my family has them. i've never drank as much water as I should and I have been anemic for a while. I heard these two play a role as well. as I got older they have gotten worse. I will admit I do eat a lot of sugar.
