Do you own any? I am seriously considering buying a pair or two. Right this moment I'm over wearing heels and being uncomfortable for looks. I'm sure I'll wear heels again eventually, but Birkenstocks are calling my name.....

Sorry, forget comfort, never in this life will I be caught wearing those monstrosities, not caught dead in them, ummmm....not in the next life either.

I had two pair and ugly is an understatement. . . But they build your legs up beautifully and I would even venture to say they create arches giving you nice sexy curvy feet.

I have some, but the soles are too hard. They aren't comfortable to me at all. Now the knock off ones in walmart have soft soles that actually mold to your step while you are stepping, talk about comfortable!

Hi Caramela,
Birkenstocks are great. They may not be the most attractive looking shoes or sandals but they are really good for your back, and are so so comfortable.

I have 4 pair. 3 pair are used for casual wear and around the house and the other pair I wear at work. They are comfortable cause I am a nurse work 12 hour shifts and tennis shoes just make me grouchy and feel on edge.

I live in Germany and they are sold everywhere. I've been wanting to purchase some for my parents, but I couldnt figure out which ones to get and why.

They're hideous!

And I have 2 pair. Here, everyone thinks they're cool and trendy. They're extremely comfortable. At first the sole felt too hard but you sort of have to break them in.

I'm with you on this right here but I have to admit that I don't think I've ever seen anyone other than caucasians wearing them.....maybe it's where I live

Maybe we talking about diff. shoes because I do not think they are that ugly.. Certainly not sexy and rather plain but I wouldn't go so far to say they are ugly.

I mean they are plan slide in shoes, nothing fancy, no big goose feathers hanging out or big spikey things or logos everywhere. I guess they aren't 'cute' since they aren't plastered in logos on don't have a heel on them.:look:

I've seen every race wear them, woman, man and child, and it's a fashion crime. People just get used to them adn "thin" there not ugly, but htey really really are seriously ugly.
BTW Caramella you're way too pretty to wear them. JMO
But just get ready for the butch lesbo's to hit on you.

I agree. I've seen far worse... ie UGGS!!! Birkenstocks look like beauty queens compared to UGGS.

I must be in the minority here b/c I have a pair of birks and they are comfortable now but when I first got them and for several several months afterwards, they hurt my feet soooooo bad. I'd have to soak my feet and massage them at the end of the day. They hurt right where the arch of my foot is supposed to be.

I have both styles too. I've never worn the old school ones outside, only around the house.
