Ok, i weigh more than i have ever weighed in my life. I need to lose 25-30 lbs i am starting to get more and more depressed about it. I want to take a prescription diet pill for a while, but i am unsure about what to get. Can anyone please offer me some advice? It doesnt HAVE to be a precription, they can be over the counter. I know Hydroxycut for me is out of the question, made my heart beat fast, and i felt weird all the time trying to take them.,and could never sleep. so just let me know if you have any suggestions.

This is probably not what you want to hear but....
Don't take any pills. You never know how your body will react. Are you going to take a diet pill for the rest of your life? Have you tried changing your eating habits? Exercise? Those are two things you can do for the rest of your life. There is no magic pill. Diet and exercise are the reality. 25-30 lbs isn't that much to lose and can come off with a few changes.

I have to co-sign on this, Precious_1. And it won't happen overnight either. Make a specific goal to lose a pound a week, with exercise and a really good diet where you won't starve yourself.

I don't think you should take pills either. I have done it and I feel that it really messes with your metabolism over time. The best thing it to raise your metabolism naturally by increasing mucsle and limiting your calories. Refuse to eat: cakes, cookies, candy, chips, white bread, white rice and other refined sugar. Eat whole grains, veggies, fruits (within reason) and lots of meat. If you have a sweet tooth, try sensible options like Vitatops or something else that is 100 calories or less with minimal fat.

Ok, yeah, yeah, yeah, dont take pills.
But your question was what pills to take. We all know "weight loss pills" arent the healthiest option, but we still want to be informed.
I LOVE the green tea pills by Applied Nutrition. To be honest I combine these with the carb blockers by the same maker, and I have lost weight effortlessly. I dont know where you live, but you can get the green tea pills from WalMart. I have tried other green tea pills, with no success. These are capsules, and they work for me. Look at the reviews on www.drugstore.com

When I needed to lose wait fast, I ordered Adipex an appitite suppresant-expensive but very effective or you can buy the generic brand, phentermine.
I lost 20lbs in 6 weeks. Plus, I exercised consistently everyday (cardio 6 days per week, weights 3 days a week). You must drink alot of H2O while taking this, it can make your mouth very dry.
Not taking them anymore because I had a difficult time falling asleep at night. One pill, in my case, 35mgs, would keep you up all night if you're not careful.
It works too well, you have to kinda force yourself to eat.

Everyone is different and it all depends on your comfort level with taking them. As I said in my earlier post, I know you didn't want to hear that you should not take diet pills but I had to say it. Yes, it is good to be informed. Be informed of the advantages AND disadvantages of taking diet pills is important. Just looking out for you. I would never promote someone to take diet pills. I know someone that had a very bad reaction to diet pills. She only wanted to loose 15 lbs and felt she had to take a pill. With proper diet and exercise she would have lost that weight without taking a pill. She almost lost her life and she now realizes that taking a diet pill to use 15 lbs was not worth her life. I don't mean to scare you but just listen to your body if you decide to take them. Good luck!
