My brother lives in New York and I want to recommend a church to him. I am looking for somewhere that is open and helpful to people who are seekers because he is unsure of his beliefs right now.

St. Paul!!!! It sounds like EXACTLY what your brother needs. I believe it's in Brooklyn but I would drive in all the way from New Jersey. It was definitely worth the ride. I definitely missed it once I moved to L.A.

If you guys are in the Brooklyn or Manhattan here are a few suggestions:

Times Square Church in Manhattan (my old Church and I miss it a lot!)
www.tscnyc.org/

Brooklyn Tabernacle in Brooklyn (My husband and I would visit here from time to time)
www.brooklyntabernacle.org

Christian Cultural Center in Brooklyn. (Some of our best friends went here before moving to Atlanta, too)

Yes it is a small world! I just came from the 8:30 service. It's a shame I'm not an official member yet, I usually go with my mother who is. Before the new year comes, I'll take the plunge and become a true member.

It's a very nice church and I love what they have done/are doing in the community.

Can anyone recommend a Pentecostal (or other) church in Brooklyn that has a good soulful choir and a great preacher?

My old pastor just moved to a church called Calvary-St. George's in Manhattan. He's a terrific pastor, and he told me about some of the things they're doing at the church, and it sounds good. There are both traditional and more contemporary services, a diverse mix of people, and ministries (Alpha) for people exploring their faith. http://stgeorgesnyc.dioceseny.org/

Thanks for posting this. I will be checking this church out. I am really searching for a church home. So I will add this to my list of churches to visit.
