Can someone explain to me what is the Atkin's diet? From what I read no fruits allowed? Is this right? Is it meat based?

I've been on Atkins for 66 days and I have lost 35 pounds!!! Well the theme of atkins is Low carbohydrates which means less fruits and more meats and acceptable vegetables..... The reason for the atkins diet is to send your body in lipolysis which is when your body is burning primarily fat instead of sugar when you are taking in too many carbs..... you lose weight faster because of this.... I am taking in 20-30 carbs a day now. but there are different phases of atkins. you stay on it to fit you personally. For a sample day of eating i'll have for breakfast- 2 scrambled eggs, 2 slices of bacon and some green tea with splenda sweetener (1 packet); lunch- chef salad (lettuce, tomatoes, green onions, pickles, bell peppers, cheese cubes, deli sliced turkey and ham, etc) with ranch dressing; snack-Pork skins; dinner-Baked porkchop casserole (pork chop, fried okra no breading, and green onions)..... I hope this helps. You're supposed to stay away from breads, potatoes, white veggies, sugar, etc......

God bless

Crystal

I guess this is not for me. I get allergic reactions to eggs, beef. I don't eat pork. I don't eat processed meats. I am allergic to milk. I try to eat as much live food that I can. Meaning fruits and veggies. Without fruit, I am dehydrated, lethargic, and feel that I plugged with a cork. My skin looks horrible, sallow, and sickly. When I eat fruit I feel alive, look alive. I can not stomache that much meat, I can not even eat fake meat. I will stick with my FIT FOR LIFE diet.
