Being home this winter break, I've realized how much how you speak to someone can influence how they react to you.

I grew up in a household where there wasn't a lot of affection. There was care, but no overt displays of affection.

It's certainly improved... but there's a lot of work to be done.

This year, from dating a very affectionate guy who is really close to his family, I've really realized how distant I can be with people I care about.
