Daily Moisturizing Experiment Summary

Posted 04-15-2013 at 11:04 AM by faithVA

So 35 days of moisturizing are over. I didn't have phenomenal results. After 35 days of daily moisturizing I am unable to report that my hair is softer, more hydrated or better feeling. At this length between twa and NL it is very time consuming and complicated to moisturize daily.

What I was able to do is experiment with a lot more product combinations. I clearly see that products with glycerin are a necessary part of my regimen. Baggy does work for me on a least a small scale. And...

Last Week of Daily Moisturizing (Days 29 - 35)

Posted 04-15-2013 at 10:44 AM by faithVA

I was moisturizing daily following the suggestion given during my hair analysis. I was told that a lot of my issue is just to my hair being dry and that I needed to keep it moisturized. So I wanted to see if it would improve my hair and my ends. Well after 28 days, I could tell my hair was better but there was no hope for my ends. They were just breaking and causing all cleansing and styling to take longer. So started this week with fresh ends.

Lessons Learned This Week

30+ Days of Daily Moisturizing (Days 22-28)

Posted 04-08-2013 at 09:40 AM by faithVA

No major improvements yet but definitely improvements. My hair stays at least a 6.5 and I think I can keep it at least a 7.5. The protein has definitely helped. The daily moisturizing would do nothing without it. I think cowashing will help but I need more length for a quick go to style before I can do it more.

Last week I learned:
1. Misting and baggying prevents me from having to mist each section. But not sure if misting with water, misting with tea or misting with diluted...

30+ Days of Daily Moisturizing (Days 15-21)

Posted 04-02-2013 at 12:31 PM by faithVA

My hair is still breaking but It definitely is less than before. I think it needs more protein because it tends to break when I am misting it and then trying to twist. When my hair is dry there is little to no breakage. Moisturizing and sealing every day is still a challenge but so far I have been consistent. My hair is starting to feel better and look just a little better.

Last week I learned:
--Tight curls/twist make my hair appear to be hard. I need to wait an hour after...

4 Naturals on My Low Porosity 4B Natural Hair

A really good product line for my hair. Finally!

This line has a nice ingredient list, is sold on the ground in Walgreen and Sally's and the prices are reasonable. I used a 20% off coupon at Sally's and purchased 5 products for $35.

Unfortunately the line does not have a leave-in conditioner, nor does it have a deep conditioner. Hopefully in the future they will add these 2 items.

The bottles have color coded markings on the front for type 2,...
