Curly Girl Round II - 12 Weeks (Week 1 - Wash 1)

Posted 08-08-2012 at 10:07 PM by faithVA

I big chopped on Saturday to cut off all my damaged ends. My previous 12 weeks were not completely lost. I learned a lot and at least 2" of my hair got some love My scalp also feels so much better.

I am going to repeat my personal curly girl challenge for the next 12 weeks. And I picked 12 weeks because I believe the book says it may take 12 weeks to hydrate.

Doing curly girl on my 2" hair isn't the same as my 5" hair. I can't rake it. I can't squeeze-quench....

Pre Deva Cut - CG Week 12 - Wash 3

Posted 07-29-2012 at 08:38 PM by faithVA

Although it means starting over I am excited to get my hair cut. I have been struggling with my ends for 2 years. And the cut will not only give me ends that I can work with, it will get me started with healthy hair.

For 12 weeks I have been working on hydrating my hair by cowashing several times a week and doing the curly girl method. I have cut my ends several times getting rid of a lot of damage. I had a hair analysis so I know what I did wrong the first time around and what to...

Curly Girl - Week 12 - Wash 1

Posted 07-27-2012 at 10:54 PM by faithVA

I actually made it to week 12 of cowashing several days a week. I never thought this was possible. It has definitely been a lot of work but it has been worth it.

I will do at least 1 wash for week 13 and then have my Devacut on Saturday. Hopefully all of the efforts hydrate will pay off.

Wash 1
Its time to wash when I can no longer get my hair to shape properly in a puff. Myhair shrinks and it can't be manipulated. I rinsed my hair in the shower to rinse out as...

Curly Girl - Week 11 - Wash 3

Posted 07-25-2012 at 08:58 AM by faithVA

Tuesday, Wash 3
Had an opportunity to move my wash day up. I prepooed with olive oil and honey and put my hair into 7 sections. I think I used too much honey so the prepoo wasn't as effective as before. I let it sit for about an hour then rinsed. I cowashed with Deva Care One. With the conditioner in I misted my hair with water and then did the squeeze-quench method to saturate my strands. I let it sit while I showered and then rinsed with warm water. I did the squeeze-quench method under...

Curly Girl - Week 11 - Wash 1 & 2

Posted 07-22-2012 at 10:15 PM by faithVA
Updated 07-25-2012 at 08:50 AM by faithVA

Missed my wash day on Friday.

Saturday, Wash 1
I did a rush job, just cowashing quickly with Giovanni SAS and using Deva Curl One as a leave-in. I didn't work the product in very much. I just put my hair into a puff.

Sunday, Wash 2
Did some extra pampering to my hair. She wasn't too dry but she didn't feel loved either.

I oiled my scalp with my castor oil blend and baggied for an hour. I rinsed my hair and then tried Burt-Bees pre-shampoo. My...
