Perservance: "I Will Never & Can Never Give Up"
Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful people with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan "press on" has solved and always will solve the problems of human race. -Calvin Coolidge.
Perseverance should be a major characteristic of anyone that wants to be super-successful and an influential member of society. Your mentality should be: "I was born to win, losing is not in me. If I even get knocked down, I get right back up and try again. If the whole world tells me that it is not possible, then I still will believe it's possible and act on that belief. I have even more patience to keep putting forth the same effort to win. I will keep hammering on that rock until it totally falls and I am fully walking into my dream. I NEVER QUIT EVEN IF I FEEL LIKE IT."
At this point, negative circumstances or negative energy should inspire you to do better and push you further into attaining higher levels of success. Last night, I was talking to one of my long-time friends and she was telling me a business idea. She had no idea of how to start and she figured that I would be able to give her a starting point. I began to give her a small to-do list before totally immersing herself into the idea without direction. Coincidentally, at her job, she is currently being harassed by her insubordinate employees. You should always use adversity to push into a better direction instead of getting bitter. Now, she is exploring other possibilities to get out of that job.
You need to already have a belief system that I will not only endure but triumph especially when the winds get rough, rejection knocks at my door, or things seem chaotic. I was reading Michael Jordan’s story and he was rejected from the high school team but it forced him to keep trying. If he stopped at this point, he would have never made into the NBA or made record-setting plays.
Once you have viable goals, then you need to write it down and also, document your motivations for attaining this goal. Writing down your goals forces you to stay the course even when the roads start curving suddenly. So, when nothing is going your way, then you need to review those written goals over and over.
Also, if you have plans to enter a particular niche in a market, then you need to do your own research: "Who is in my market? What do they like? What books help me to fully understand this area?" Furthermore, you should look into taking courses to find out about this business area. I am not saying that you sign up for a degree program but there are local colleges that offer a course that will help you gain an understanding of coherently putting an idea together. Also, you never know if you may meet someone at a course that may even be a future business partner or be a good contact.
Keeping your eyes on the prize is the only way to achieve any goal in life...

Calvin Coolidge! I love that quote!
I have to ask, where do you draw inspiration for your posts? Do you write about things you feel you need to hear as well or is there some other source?
Thanks again for another wonderful post.Posted 03-29-2010 at 08:29 PM by Spiffy

I write very liberally--pull up my favorite quotes from other sources. But I just come up with a topic--like perservance and then I freely write. I have not read any books in particular recently but from my teenage years up until mid into law school, I read a lot of positive thinking books. But not really even in recent years. I was always the positive one in the past--I would be the one that would encourage my friends and they said after talking to me they felt like they could touch the sky. That's just me.Posted 03-29-2010 at 08:38 PM by Nice Lady

Thank you for this. Years ago I had to leave grad school, and I applied again a few months ago only to be rejected. I feel so lost and I dont want to give up. I just wish it wasn't so hard. Thank you for posting this.Posted 03-29-2010 at 11:06 PM by locabouthair
