My brother's death has made me realize that if I died in my apartment today, no one knows where my personal stuff is.

My brother has bank accounts and 15 trucks from a waste management business. We cannot find any of that stuff. We can't even find his *%$*%$ laptop!

Make sure your stuff is in order, ladies. I'm going to put together a list of all my accounts and send that stuff to my parents.

I made a file called 'Important Documents'. It has all my insurance/beneficiary information, bank account information, debt/bill information, passwords, pin numbers, etc. My mom and my SO know where it is.

I went through the same thing when my dad died. Unfortunately, we still have never even found the papers for his life insurance information. I agree. People need to put their important papers in a safe place and tell at least one other person where stuff is.

re: passwords - They know where this information is located in my apartment, but I haven't given them the actual passwords.

You are so right. My other half is not with me anymore and I haven't been able to sort thru everything he had before us(16yrs) including everything we have together.

I cannot thankyou enough for this suggestion..my mom is very secretive about everything she does and it really bothers me. I recently just found out she told my niece about important financial business before she told me..I was very confused and irritated by that move she made. Whe I confronted her about it,she pretended like she couldn't recall if she did or not?? I know she did because of the way she phrases things and my niece is too young and fickle to be privied to such info. My mother let me know where I stood with her and it's just sooo sad.
