(1) What is your hair care regimen?
* BASICS:
* Wash with a sulfate shampoo
* Condition with a moisturizing or protein rich conditioner (moisture during a stretch, protein after relaxers)
* Air-dry or blow-dry
* OPTIONAL:
* Condition scalp with KeraCare Dry & Itchy Scalp Moisturizing Conditioner (only used on my scalp when irritated or inflamed)
* MICELLANEOUS:
* Detangle with a wide tooth comb
* Stretch relaxers for 3-4 months at a time
* Trim hair ½- ¼ of an inch after every relaxer
* NOTES:
* I leave my hair down all the time when I’m out in public but usually have it in a bun and under a net at home to keep it out of the way
* Deep condition with every wash for 15-20 minutes, give or take
* No product is put in my hair after rinsing conditioner out of my hair, nor do I put products in my hair between wash days, my hair is always product free
* When I first became interested in growing my hair out, I used to deep condition overnight, I sometimes revert back to this technique if my hair feels extremely dry
(2) Do you take any supplements? If so, what are they?
· CURRENT:
* Nature’s Bounty Your Life Multi Prenatal DHA/ADH Prenatal
* IN ROTATION:
* Hübner Healthy Living Original Silicea Balsam
* Seven Seas Cod Liver Oil
* Bell Liquid Multi-Vitamin Complex
(3) Currently, how long is your hair and what is your hair type?
* CURRENT STATS:
* Relaxed 4a, midback length, 5’3.5”
* GOAL LENGTH:
* Somewhere between waist length and tailbone length
(4) What are the things that you feel have helped you the most in achieving and maintaining your hair length?
* HELP FOR ACHIEVING AND MAINTAINING HAIR LENGTH:
* Consistent research on hair and hair products
* Being unafraid to try new products or methods
* Keeping positive and consistent while ignoring negativity
* Always asking for questions and advice
* Avoid comparing my hair with someone else’s
* Support and compliments from LHCF
* Reformatting my regimen to do what works best for my hair’s needs while still being fun and convenient
* Setting realistic goals
* Seeking inspiration
* Avoid being overcome by setbacks
* Trying to keep it simple
* Keeping nails groomed to avoid snagging on hair
* Checking in with a hair buddy or close friends (someone with the same hair texture, hair goal, hair length, etc.) to update frequently and talk to for support
