Feeling Sad for my Best Friend...

My best friend of 14 years mother died last week. When she told me I was shocked I couldn't believe it because it came so sudden. She was not recently ill, but she did have high blood pressure and maybe diabetes.
I feel so sad for her because she and her mother were very close like me and my mom. The funeral is tomorrow and she refused to go view the body today so she will see her for the 1st time tomorrow during the funeral.
Some people say that it is easier when you view the body the day before to avoid the shock during the funeral. I don't think it helped me any when my grandma passed, it was still hard.
But I'm definitely going to be there for her, and pray for her as well. It's going to be tough for her and really hard for me to see her in such pain :sad: .

    That's tough...

    I wouldn't want to go see my parent the day before. One time is enough. I can't imagine it. When my dad passed this summer, I couldn't hardly look at him the day of his funeral. I wouldn't want to see it twice in a row... My aunt asked me to go BACK in that funeral home to get her a rose off the casket... "Don't you wanna go back in there with me and get a flower?" I looked at her like she was crazy.

    "Hell no, I don't wanna go back in there and get you a flower... do you know who that IS in there?" I walked off... I thought that was ridiculous. I still see my daddy in my mind in that coffin... I wouldn't tell anybody to go view the body the day before unless they absolutely HAD to because there was nobody else to do so.

    When my father died, I couldn't do it twice either. Luckily, my mom had my aunt and a few friends who could help her deal with the pre-viewing. They just told me to stay home. I almost didn't make the funeral because my stomach was so upset.

    I am very sorry for your friend's loss. It is a blessing that she has such a compassionate and caring best friend like you.
