The truth about sin pt 2

Rate this Entry
Ladies,
Okay let's talk about Consequences. This part is especially important to me and is partly why I feel it is so important that we really seek to read the bible inside and out. Because we don't want to suffer loss because of what we don't know. So, another plug, we must know God's word!!! Read it, and share it with God's people so that we all experience the truth that sets us free. John 8:32 says, If ye continue in my word, the ye are my diciples indeed. And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free. We are disciples, and as disciples learn they teach. So please also share it with your neighbor so that they can get free as well.

I read a great article about the consequences of sexual sin and I want to cut and paste from that article and extrapolate these ideas to other forms of sin. I know the body of Christ tends to overemphasize sexual sin compared to other sin, but I want to cover this area because there are deeper issues involved. But ultimately, studying the consequences of this sin applies to all others because all sin accomplishes the same end.

Okay if anyone doesn't want to know the truth, don't read on because some of these are quite serious. Ok, CONSEQUENCES!

#1. SEX SIN (AND OTHER SINS) MAKES YOU SERVANT TO THAT SIN
Go back to John 8:34. God tells us, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of that sin. Eventually, you will be in bondage to whatever you are doing and you will have to serve it. Paul described this as slavery to sin in Romans 6:16

#2 PRACTICING SIN FORMS A STRONGHOLD FOR EVIL IN OUR LIVES
When we repeatedly sin, we give evil an increasingly protected place in our lives. The more we give in to our sinful lusts, the more they have control over us.. Sexual strongholds are particularly powerful, since they involve our body, soul and spirit. Jesus described in Luke 11:26, when one spirit departs, 7 other spirits can return again with the original spirit, and the person would be worst off than before when he was dealing with only the one spirit. Remeber how David first committed adultery with Bathsheba, and ultimately ended up murdering her husband. Sin opens up footholds for other sin in your life. This really emphasizes the need to get rid of sin and fill that void with righteousnous, so that no place is given for unrighteousness to return.

#3 SEX SIN CAN BRING A CURSE ON YOU, YOUR PARTNER, AND YOUR CHILDREN. Sex sin gives Satan a right to oppress us and our descendants through curses. The scriptural basis for generational curses is found in Exodus 34:6-7 and several other passages. Promiscuity, adultery, divorce, infertility, frigidity and other reproductive problems can sometimes be traced to curses arising from sexual sin (Numbers 5:11-31). Remember what I said before, God doesn't punish us, but if we have done X, Y, Z, in the past it can appear in our lives or the lives of our children. I know of one family, where all the men have a history of drug abuse, addictions, and incarcertion. Homosexuality can be passed down to generations. I recently heard of a young woman who is homosexual and her sister is as well. Now homosexuality is 5%, of the population so its not by chance that the sister is also homosexual. I also personally know of a mom and daughter who struggle with promiscuity. We all see how these things can linger in families. But when you know about it, you can be set free from these curses. All curses can be broken by the applied blood of Jesus (Galatians 3:13-14)

#4 SIN SEPARATES YOU FROM GOD.
The bible says that we can't serve two masters. If you serve yourself God's spirit will depart. And you will become more and more distant from God. The bible talks about quenching the holy spirit. It puts out the "fire" of the Holy Spirit in our life (1 Thessalonians 5:19). The more we quench God's Spirit, the less we will be inclined to live a changed life in righteousness. Also Isaiah 59:2 says "Your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden his face from you."

#5 SIN CAUSES YOUR PRAYERS TO GO UNANSWERED
See #4, God is separted from you and does not hear your prayers unless you repent. Psalm 66:18 David says, If I had cherished sin in my heart the Lord would not have listened. But God has surely listened and heard my voice in prayer. Praise be to God who has not rejected my prayer or witheld his love from me. "

#6 WHEN YOU SIN YOU CRUCIFY GOD ANEW
We serve a living God, and when you sin, it affects him and crucifies him anew. I used to know where this scripture is, when I find it I will share it.

#7 SEX SIN DEFILES YOUR BODY/DEFILES THE TEMPLE OF GOD
Sex sin is unique in that we commit it against our own bodies (1 Corinthians 6:17). Our bodies function as temples of God's Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:12-20). When we use our body for sex sin, we dishonor our body and defile God's temple. We're also defiling the people that we are sinning with. Our lack of respect for the body (and for God)
damages our relationship with God.

#8 SEX SIN CAN BRING SPIRITUAL CONFUSION
Spiritual confusion begins when we start pursuing the pleasures of sin and disregard our conscience of right and wrong. The more we pursue sin, the more our conscience becomes dulled (1 Timothy 4:2, Titus 1:15). A dull conscience causes us to be susceptible to enemy's lies which will draw us progressively further from God (James 1:14). Eventually we may not even think our actions are sinful and our ability to repent can be hindered (Hebrews 6:1-8). Two examples of sex-related spiritual confusion are found in Romans and 1 Kings. The people in Romans 1:24-32 sinned through sexual immorality and idolatry and were filled with all kinds of evil. 1 Kings 11 illustrates how Solomon, the wisest person that ever lived, descended into spiritual confusion through sexual idolatry with his pagan wives.

#9 SIN LEADS TO DEATH

The bible says that "the wages of sin is death." I think this applies to the unsaved, in the physical since (possibly prematured death). But we christians can experience spiritual death. Adam and Eve, were not to experience death. But because of their original sin we were separated from God and ultimately we will all face death. I know sin affects longeivity of life, because people who do evil and become sick and sometimes have premature deaths(I know of an example of this personally unforntunately). Also, the bible says long life will be given to those who honor their parents. There are more examples of longevity in the bible as well.

#10 SIN MAKES YOU CROWN YOURSELF LORD OF YOUR OWN LIFE
When you choose sin, you choose idolotry, and you usurp your own authority of your life.

Note: I copied atleast half the bullets in pt. 2 from this link. Refer to it for more info related to sexual sin. http://www.porn-free.org/consequences.htm
