I feel my wardrobe is kute but it's rather young and kinda dull.:perplexed I'm tryna start coordinating more instead of matching so much and wearing obvious name brand clothes. I know I can create a successful and kute wardrobe without breaking my wallet. I'm buying a lot of my lcothes form kids' departments and I tend to wear a lot of bright colors, so I'm afraid that my look makes me look much younger than my age and immature. :spinning:I'm lookin for a more put mature look but I really don't know where to start considering I'm 4'8:sad:

I'm tryna change my wardrobe form plain jane to sexyy career college girl. What stores do you like? Where can I buy quality jewelry that is not so expensive but fashionable. Can someone give me a few pointers to improving my wardrobe?:nono:

And where can I find a few bold bags and shoes to make my outfits look better on a college budget?

I think you're on the right track. I personally think that people who have to match all the time just don't understand color. If you're very color-challenged i.e. don't know what goes with what, I suggest buying a color wheel.

Also, I wouldn't be so concerned with buying "obvious name brand clothes." I think a lot of these walking poster-board clothes make people look really "nouveau riche." Since you have a petite stature, you need to think about tailoring. It's fit, rather than a tag or logo that makes clothes look more expensive.

I'll come back with some ideas for you.

The above should be forgiving on a college wallet.

I shop online at:

Alltherageonline has inexpensive fashion jewelry: http://www.alltherageonline.com and so does out of hand: http://www.oohboutique.com/index.html

Some big, bold bags (very inexpensive):

If you're a stickler for leather like me, you won't like these but just a thought since you said you're on a college budget.

I'm 19, a sophomore in college, and even though people tell me that I dress like I am older, lately I have been feeling like I dress very young, or more so that my style is just stagnant: jeans, tshirts or sweaters, and boots.

it has gotten really boring lately, so that's why i'm trying to revamp my style.

i think you have to consider the climate where you live and identify key things that you might need for such a climate and make sure they are sophisticated, even when they are affordable.

In terms of color, I personally think that some colors just look extra young when paired together. I think for a sophisticated wardrobe, it's better that colors be RICH rather than BRIGHT. I don't know if I'm making much sense, but I usually can see when something just looks young in the way the color is presented. It has a lot to do with the fabric that it is in as well.

For your height, maybe you can consider wedges, since they will be comfortable and will add some height to your presence. There was a girl I worked with last summer who was really short, and sometimes she looked EXTRA young, and I noticed that some people would not pay much attention to her.
I have no basis for the advice I'm going to give, but I thought that if i were in her position, whenever I wear flats, I would make sure that my outfit makes me look older, and whenever I'm wearing something extra casual, then I'd put on some heels.
For example: I would probably pair some dark jeans, even if it's a simple T-shirt, with a blazer, and put on flats and a nice bag. With that, even though I'm standing short, the outfit itself says that I'm not that young.

On the other hand, if i'm wearing a denim skirt and a Tshirt, i would wear some heels, even if they're just 2 inches high.

My mom has always taught me to invest more in quality pieces rather than what everyone else is wearing. This past summer I made the mistake of buying a bunch of trendy but cheap stuff and guess what? a couple of months of wearing them, and they don't look the same anymore:wallbash: lots of wasted money. Now i'm back to investing in good things. That may mean saving up for a while to get something you really NEED.

for example, bags and coats: those you should invest in.
I got a coat for about $70 a year ago at H&M, and though it's very cute, it's only 60% wool and poorly lined! I'm in MA where it's cold, and because I come from a warm climate (Miami and the Caribbean) I NEED something warmer. This coat I can only wear on particular days when it isn't too cold, so it turns out that it's not very versatile. Also, it is shaped in a way that is dressier than everyday wear. So, i would rather save up and get a 80% to 100% wool coat that is 2x the price or more than to have something sitting in my close that I don't wear much.

Same for bags. You can get a nice leather bag at TJMaxx, Marshalls, Loehmans, and it may last you your whole college career and more! You get a non-trendy style and it's evidently timeless.
Anyway, I'm rambling on.

Check out Gap, Banana Republic, Zara, Marshalls, TJMaxx, Nine West, even H&M (just not for quality pieces), etc.

With jewelry, i have the same view as the idea for coats and bags.
For me, since I know I don't have a lot of money, I don't always go for what is trendy because I know it may not last, and I need it to. It saves from essentially having to buy the same stuff over and over and over again because for example, the handle broke off, the heel came off, the thread came out, the jewelry turned black, etc.

You may want to get a couple of jewelry pieces, like some nice and simple gold or silver earrings and a simple chain. That stuff can be used for a casual or a dressy occasion.

Then, you can add to your jewelry collection with the trendy stuff that will add color to an outfit, but you have to be aware that some of this stuff is liable to break or turn dark. JMO.
