OK, just stumbled upon this forum ladies. I'd like to know if you guys could help me out. So I have a weird body shape in my opinion. My butt is a good size...but my waist isnt all that small either... so its almost like a pop can shape. ANd that I am working on by working out etc. So what I need to know is what brand jeans would you recommend for me. What I'm looking for is non- low rise.. I want something that covers my butt when I sit down. In addition I'd like jeans with little more stretch in them, plus I dont want them to gape at the back on my waist. So I want full coverage, cute and a little stretch. Jeans i have tried that dont work.. Apple bottoms, Baby Phat, Levi's, Rocawear... non fit me well.

I have had sucess with Lerner NY jeans.. they fit OK, have the right amount stretch and a good price.. but they are cheap...meaning I have to replace them every 4 months or so.

What would you recommend for me? Thanks for sharing. Michelle

$$ is an issue, but I will invest in a good pair of jeans.

I think DKNY stretch would work well for you. I have a pair and they are my favorite pair of jeans. No gap at the waist and fit my body just right. They have a lot of stretch so they could conform to a lot of body types. And they are a nice compromise between plumber butt low rise and momma jeans lol.

I have this same problem. And on top of that my legs are super long. But I buy cheap jeans so I guess I'm not of much help. :look: I used to buy all my jeans from Wet Seal. I did buy some recently from Rave that fit me nicely though. And my crack isn't showing in the back.

Bmorefly...no worries...cheaper is always better. It just appears that many people want/like to spend more under the impression that more $$ = better quality. So suggest away.. I am open to all options.

Here's another site cut and pasted from a "high waisted jean" thread. I saw a lot of nicely priced items here!

Fran you are on point!!! So let me make sure I got this... (sorry I'm fashion impaired!!)) SO I should shop for high waisted jeans to get the look I desire... no low rise.

And how do you feel about the high rise trend? Do you wear them. Are the comfortable. Do they take care of the muffin top look?

go to http://www.zafu.com, answer the questions and see what they recommend.

by the way, if you have a short waist, a high-waisted jean will make it look even shorter. i suggest mid-rise.

Hi! How do you know if you have a short waise?? I am uncertain.. but I am 5'7 tall.. I always thought my natural waist was high... personal opinion I could be off.

I'm heard some good things about PZI jeans. They're supposedly made for "us", girls with booties that have that gapping issue. I was actually just discussing these jeans with a friend this weekend and she couldn't stop saying how good they fit. She said they were approx. $70, but it was well worth it.

I think looking for high waisted or regular rise would be ok. I'm no expert. I've been stalking pics of these jeans - I'm still trying to decide if I really like them :spinning: Some of these jeans (the more expensive ones) are made out of comfortable flex material others (less expensive) have elastic bands for the waist which is easily adjustable if you get any belly discomfort.

I've seen some of the trendier highwaisted jeans that I like but the ones I liked were too expensive... so no I don't have any. I think they would solve the muffin top problem the only set back I can see is if they cut the belly off in the wrong spot to create a B shape... it seems like that wouldn't be too comfortable.

You should be able to look in the mirror and tell. A long torso is usually accompanied by short legs, regardless of height. Conversely, a short torso is generally accompanied by long legs. I'm 5'1" and I have very long legs for a person my height and a short torso. I stay away from high-waisted jeans. I like low rise, personally; usually about a 7.5-inch rise. Mid-rise works on my body too, though.

It should be obvious if your waist and legs are not right in proportion, lending to long legs or a short torso or vice versa.

BTW, I think elastic waistbands in jeans are HORRENDOUS. I'd rather buy denim that fits through the waist and hips or have it tailored than resort to elastic that can bunch up in the back, adding bulk.

Yeah, I don't spend much money for my things. I try to only buy things on sale. As far as the rise goes, There are low rise, regular rise and high waist jeans. I think you want regular rise. High waisted jeans have an even higher waist line. I have a pair like that and they look cute on. You just have to make sure you get the right size so you don't have a muffin top. I wouldn't buy a lot of pairs like that though. Go with the regular rise. Any store that sells jeans should have these. Like Gap, Old Navy, etc. They should offer a variety of rises and cuts. I'm glad that low rise is finally going out though. I have love handles and low rise jeans made them more noticeable. :look:

Thank you for this site! I had so much fun on it. Turns out the jeans recommended for me are Joe's Jeans - which I have heard SO much about form this board - Levis, and BabyPhat.

Those are 3 brands I wouldn't have even looked at when shopping high end denim. I would have tried to squeeze myself in some True Religion, 7s, or Citizens. Thank you!!!

Glad you found something you like! I've heard a lot about Joe's Jeans as well. I might try some on somewhere. I really LOVE my 7 for all mankind and citizens of humanity, though. They fit me great! Go to nordstrom and try some on, you might like them.

I've found some really good deals on Ebay. Most of the jeans I buy have already been professionally hemmed and cost much less than retail. I'm short so tailored jeans are a plus for me.

I think if you buy them from Nordstrom they will hem them for you for free.

I want some high waisted jeans so bad but they're gonna need to put a girdle up in there for me because I need some things sucked in:look:. I wonder if they only flatter certain body types?
